Important Note: CoPilot has been using data from EUROCONTROL to provide the worldwide waypoint database. The new fees from EUROCONTROL are four times the old fees and it is no longer viable to make CoPilot available.

Starting on September 1, 2017 the price will be reduced to zero, and on January 1, 2018 the app will be removed from the store.

In the meantime, the waypoint database will become increasingly out of date.

The aircraft database will become non-functional in mid-September 2017.

The weather server will be turned off on January 1, 2018.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

-----

CoPilot is a multi-leg flight planning program for general aviation pilots. CoPilot performs detailed time, distance, heading, fuel, and weight & balance calculations.

A free (worldwide) online database (with over 150,000 waypoints) is consulted whenever you input a waypoint identifier. All of the waypoints in the same area as the requested waypoint are automatically downloaded so they are available for offline planning.

Weather information (wind, pressure, temperature) is automatically entered. The weather information is available everywhere in the world.

Within a few minutes you can completely plan a multi-leg trip, with detailed climb calculations and fuel planning. The weight and balance is calculated and plotted. A flight plan form is ready for when you call the FSS. On devices with a GPS, a moving map (waypoints only) or an HSI is included.

The information for multiple aircraft can be entered into the database. When you plan a flight, you select the airplane that you will use and the calculations will be performed using the information for the selected airplane.

CoPilot is very flexible. For example you can have an unlimited number of legs per flight. An aircraft can be configured with an unlimited number of weight and balance stations. Once you have planned a trip you can select different aircraft and everything will be recalculated with the new aircraft profile.

Pros and cons of CoPilot - Aviation Flight Planning app for iPhone and iPad

CoPilot - Aviation Flight Planning app good for

I was already enthusiastic user of previous versions when flying in Canada, but the latest version is the very best tool on a market. Thanks Laurie! V
It would be really great to be able to send a flight plan, mass and balance and ATC flight plan by email for instance, so you could print it and use it in the aircraft. Otherwise great program than you.
Este app é realmente bom. Cria uma navegacao com ventos online e ainda te mostra o grafico do peso e balanceamento. Recomendo... - - - - Really cool app. You can create a navigation with online winds and see your weight and balance envelope. Buy one and you will not regret...
Great tool. Very good for planning, fuel calc and W&B. Great feature to interlink foreflight. File my IFR flight plans this way and it really works!! Best bucks I spend on an App so far
As far as aviation related apps go, this one is excellent. It does everything promised. It is reasonably priced, and is fairly stable. The only thing stopping me from giving it five stars is that its a bit buggy when accessing the external database. I had a few crashes looking up airports. However, restarting the app for the most part solves the problem. As far as improvements, Id love to see integration with the GPS and maybe be able to download airport layouts with frequency info etc.
Jai acheté la version 1.2 et il ne semble pas y avoir de bugs. Bon logiciel. Ive just bought the version 1.2 and it seems to have no bugs. Good software .

Some bad moments

Crashes frequently. Almost every use its crashed at least once. Lacks profiles for many GA aircraft types resulting in tedious entry of weight and balance and performance profile data. Doesnt automatically feed from weather sources to pull winds, etc. Many, many opportunities to make this a very usable app but as it stands, I cant say Id recommend it. This might have been a great app on the palm pilot 5 years ago, but its nowhere close to what one expects of an iPhone app.
Im a commercial pilot and though this app would be great for flight planning. An advice : wait until there is a stable and proven flight planning application before spending money on this one. This app is unstable and doesnt deserve a penny until they fix all the bugs. Pro Look sharp Cons Totally unstable (act like a alpha or beta version of a software) Not user friendly Very few aircrafts in the database, so you have to make you own EXPENSIVE No demo version Conclusion This is an unfinished product and doesnt worth whats being ask for.
This is one of those Apps that should be 0.99 cents. Not optimized for the IPad.
I cant believe I wasted my money on this. after using the pilot mycast on verizon this is this is painful. maybe I havent explored all of the options but on mycast it shows real weather ifr/vfr conditions, corrects for crosswind, shows fuel burnt. it doesnt do weight and balance but thats easy. what a waste
This does about 30% of any real flight plan. No more then an E6B with way point lookup. Worth no more then a few bucks. After you get done playing with this, then you will still need to: - Look up the weather and manual enter it. - Pull out the AF/D and/or Sectionals to get nav/comm frequencies - Phone numbers would be good too. - Runway lengths - Runway Headings and Taxiway designations - ETCs Once you enter data (in any field) the first time, the units are never shown again. This is BAD IDEA. Ohh, and the waypoint data... Im not so sure that it is current. Close enough for an ADF or NDB maybe. In its current state, this is a waste of time and money. If this could lookup the wx and could ref AF/D database it would be a big improvement. Maybe they could throw in a flight timer too, with visual alarm signal... like a flashing led.
This app is not represented well. It is not compatible for aircraft with more than 4 seats. Extremely dissatisfied, for the price I would have expected it to allow business jet aircraft like the citation, not to mention at least a Barron.
